Hamas Wounds 14 At Israeli Mall

Thu May 15, 2008 - People pretend like we can just turn our backs on what is happening in Palestine. The culture is so rooted in violence and the desire is to inflict as many Israeli casualties as possible that the attacks are continue to be prevalent. This from NewsMax:
A rocket fired from the Gaza Strip exploded in a shopping center in the southern Israeli city of Ashkelon on Wednesday, wounding at least 14 people, rescue officials said.

The attack came as President Bush wrapped up talks in Jerusalem with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert. The Israeli leader said Israel would not tolerate attacks by extremists in Gaza, which has been controlled by the Islamic militants of the Hamas movement since last June.

Two militant groups, the Iranian-backed Islamic Jihad and the Hamas-linked Popular Resistance Committees, claimed responsibility for the rocket strike.

Army Radio said the rocket hit the third floor of the Hutzot mall. The report said a clinic takes up part of the floor. Witnesses said an early warning system meant to give a few seconds for people to take cover did not sound an alarm before the rocket slammed into the mall.
Until Israelis are safe and not worrying about being hit by rockets while they are at the mall, why should they negotiate?

The attacks have only increased since the terrorists Hamas have gained power. From Ynet News:
Palestinian terrorists in Gaza have fired 1000 mortar rounds and rockets towards Israel since Hamas took power four months ago, Israeli security officials said Wednesday.

A military official told Ynet that "Hamas-sponsored terror groups are trying to maintain a constant level of terror activity against Israel. "The use of simple mortar rounds is not considered serious despite the dangers involved. It does not elicit a significant response from the IDF and allows Hamas to continue building up its forces in the Strip," the official continued.

The IDF estimates that approximately 350 Qassam rockets and 650 mortar rounds have been launched at Israel since then. Most of these were directed at Israeli territory although some were fired at IDF forces operating inside Gaza. (10/10/2007)
The new government of Palestine is doing nothing to curb violence, nor do they seem prepared to come to the negotiation table (but Jimmy Carter thinks so, eh guys?). Of course, the blame Israel crowd turns a blind eye to Hamas shenanigans and will probably continue to do so.

People call the wall that Israel has erected an image of apartheid and abject racism... Yet when rockets are being launched at them at increasing rates what are they supposed to do?
