Tom Brokaw: Isn't Obama like Jesus Mr. Mayor? By Rizzuto Mon Sep 15, 2008 - Tom Brokaw has picked up on the Palin as Pontius Pilate/Obama as Jesus line which is now being parroted by leftist after leftist. This from News Busters: [I]ncredibly, on today's Meet the Press Tom Brokaw used Brazile's line to confront Rudy Giuliani over comments in his GOP convention speech about Obama's community organizing. Brokaw went so far as to display a button [screencap after jump] bearing the phrase. The MTP host might just as well have been wearing it.Can I please take this opportunity to point out a few small differences between Obama and Jesus that these schmucks seem to ignore?TOM BROKAW: Senator Obama, who had an Ivy league education and could’ve gone to Wall Street, went back to Chicago, on the South Side. As you know, his supporters have defended him for working with poor families, many of whom lost their jobs when the Gary steel mills closed. In that mocking fashion, it seemed to a lot of people that you were belittling the role of a community organizer, and it led to this button -- it was addressed to Senator Palin, because she also talked about it -- “Jesus Christ was a community organizer. Pontius Pilate was a governor.” In retrospect, do you think you had too much sport with his role as community organizer, Mr. Mayor? 1.Jesus was not a professional “organizer”; he was a Rabbi, a carpenter, and a teacher. In other words, Jesus didn’t get paid by the Roman Empire to spend its money as Obama did with American tax dollars. 2.Jesus died for his beliefs. The worst that will happen to Obama is that he’ll lose the election, return to his job in the Senate, and make millions on the lecture circuit. Wow…what a martyr. 3. Jesus inspired a movement of charity, fellowship, and worship. Obama has inspired a movement of higher taxes, government dependence, and hyper-partisanship. Equally as ridiculous is their comparison of Palin to Pontius Pilate. What are they even trying to say? Is her presence on the Republican ticket somehow relatable to condemning Christ to death? Shouldn’t this be sounding off warning bells in people’s head? This is no longer veiled messianic references or halo pictures. Donna Brazile, Steve Cohen, and Tom Brokaw are now literally comparing Obama to Jesus Christ. At what point do we say that the left has officially crossed the line from somewhat sad hero worship, into full blown, offensive Christo-cultishness?
